When I was applying for my first job, sleepless nights, stress, and anxiety were commonplace. I’d spend all day Googling “best resume tips” and “common recruiter questions,” scrolling through pages and pages of advice online.

A handful of my applications led to interviews (even more did not), and some of those interviews went well. There were moments when I thought, “Yes! That’s a question I know how to answer.” Other times, I performed rather poorly or froze. “Are they really asking me to quote a salary figure right now?”

Looking back, I wish someone had been there to guide me through the process — what to expect, how to best craft my materials, how to negotiate, and when to follow up with a hiring manager.
