Mental health is now prevalently on the radar for most organizations—and this was not the case some years ago. The American Psychological Association’s 2022 survey found that 71% of workers believe that employers are now more concerned about their mental health than in the past. I often wonder if this is one of the silver linings of Covid, in addition to having the opportunity to work from home, which also raised new issues relating to mental health and the balance between work and home.
According to a brief by the World Health Organization, anxiety and depression’s global prevalence increased by 25% in the first year of the Covid-19 pandemic. The lines were always blurred for us in senior roles in organizations, where gaining that ideal balance between work and home life is a race most are not winning.
