After a California appeals court on Thursday temporarily halted a law requiring the reclassification of rideshare drivers of Uber and Lyft as employees, the decision over gig worker benefits and pay will likely be left to voters.

The two San Francisco-based companies had threatened to pull out of California, leaving up to a million drivers without work and disrupting transportation during the coronavirus pandemic.
