As the meeting began, dozens of eager eyes stared back at me in anticipation. Questions, answers, and varied perspectives flew back and forth at brisk pace. A half-hour later, we concluded the meeting with a set of definitive action items. Job done.
Quite routine, you would think. But not when you consider that all attendees – me included – were thousands of miles apart and the meeting itself was a virtual one, and some of the teams have never had the opportunity to meet each other in person yet, despite having worked together – intensely – for over a year
With an estimated 26% of the American workforce expected to work remotely through 2021, such meetings are an everyday occurrence. Some readily embraced the change while others did so reluctantly, clearly missing the office environment.
