Nearly half of American professionals own a side hustle, a recent Omnisend survey of 1,000 Americans revealed. The poll, which also surveyed respondents in the U.K., Canada, and Australia, showed that most side hustlers (56%) make less than $500 a month as supplementary income, while those earning up to $1,000 and $5,000 monthly constitute 26% and 3.6% of U.S. workers with a side hustle, respectively.
What is leading to 56% of Americans making less than $500 each month, and why do only a combined 30% make more than this figure?
