Our colleagues at Global Auto Mobility have kicked off the Engineering Careers Tour from beautiful Michigan State University.

With the generous support from the people at Astemo, Global Auto Mobility met in October with student groups, associations, and teams – plus an expert panel of MSU professors – to discuss how industry, higher education, and students can collaborate to prepare for the future of engineering.

Put another way, as technology pushes us toward innovative mobility products and services, who are the people who engineer those breakthroughs? And how do universities and industry work together to train students for engineering jobs that do not yet exist?

Our hosts John Petty and Cindy Polakowski lead a discussion focused on:

  • how university programs are changing
  • how teams and organizations play a part in engineering education
  • ways that industry works with academia
  • how hands-on learning experiences prepare students for the challenges of the real world.

Joining us at Michigan State were:

Josh Siegel – MSU Assistant Professor of Computer Science

Garth Motschenbacher – MSU Employer Engagement

Tamara Reid Bush – MSU Professor of Mechanical Engineering

Rick Currie – Senior HR Director at Astemo Americas

Keegan Degoede – MSU Engineering Student
