As we look toward making business goals for 2023, it’s hard to know where to start when there are so many unknowns, including a remote workforce, inflation, supply chain issues, to name a few considerations. Tanya Dalton of Asheville NC, author of On Purpose: The Busy Woman’s Guid to an Extraordinary Life of Meaning and Success, says:

“The next time you find yourself saying, ‘I really should be doing this for my business,’ remember my advice to define success on your own terms. I did this recently for my own business using my favorite productivity tool: the Pareto Principle. Also known as the 80/20 rule, it encourages focusing on the vital few instead of the trivial many. The idea is that 80% of your business’ output (revenue/sales) is the direct result of 20% of your input (work). For years, the “should” that followed me around was I had to be active on social media. Even though social media felt like a drain on my budget and time, I thought it was a necessary sacrifice for the success of my business.
