The gig economy is expanding — rapidly — but gig workers struggle to get paid. Craig J. Lewis has built Gig Wage into a dominant, empathy-driven player in the payment technology space.

Craig J. Lewis was sitting in his Dallas office not long ago when an elderly male delivery driver reached customer service at Gig Wage, the payment technology platform for independent workers that he launched in 2020. The delivery driver was crying. He was sitting at a gas station and didn’t have money to fill the tank of his car so that he could complete his next delivery. Within minutes, Gig Wage enabled instant pay for the driver, and he was able to purchase gas.
