Looking for full-time work? You might have to settle for fewer hours or take on several part-time jobs.

The number of people working full time in the U.S. has shrunk by a whopping 1.5 million since hitting a record 134.8 million some 14 months ago, according to the government’s regular survey of households.

At the same time, the number of people working part time has increased by an even larger 2 million during the same span stretching back to June 2023.
