NordVPN’s latest National Privacy Test shows that Americans still know their way around passwords and scams, but fall short in other areas. The US placed fourth globally in cybersecurity knowledge this year, slipping from higher ranks in previous years. People are skilled at making strong passwords and recognizing shady offers, but gaps remain in how they handle newer online risks.

One of the biggest blind spots is privacy at work when using AI, with just 5 percent of respondents recognizing the concerns. While 96 percent knew the importance of strong passwords, only 16 percent knew where to safely store them. Wi-Fi security is another area that could be improved. These are all often targets for criminals. NordVPN’s advice is to update your apps, enable multi-factor authentication, review privacy settings, and use a VPN to reduce risks.
