I recently received a message from a client who is a senior executive in a non-consulting professional services sector. He informed me that he wants to transition to becoming a management consultant. He was struggling to know what to do, what to be known for and how to make this transition to starting his consulting business while still employed at his current firm.

I think this client’s worries are normal. He wants to advise tech startups and the VC universe. I don’t know if he advises this sector currently in his role, but should he not be doing that, he is trying to enter a new career path (consulting) and new sector (tech startups). That’s two new areas.
