Graduating college students face a challenging job market: Forty-one percent of recent grads are underemployed, meaning they’re working in jobs that typically don’t require a college degree, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Job postings are reportedly down from a year ago, even as widespread federal layoffs and a freeze on government hiring have ratcheted up competition for positions.
